IKEA Shopping List Helper ("the extension") is an independently built, unofficial browser extension.
Summary
This extension does not collect, transmit, sell, or share any of your data with anyone — including the developer. Everything the extension stores lives only in your own browser, on your own device.
What data the extension stores, and where
The extension uses the browser's built-in storage to save, entirely on your device: your shopping list (product names, prices, images, article numbers, URLs, and the room you assigned to each item), and your settings (custom room categories, panel language, whether the extension is enabled, and an optional default email for the "email the list" feature). None of this is sent to the developer, to IKEA, or to any third party. There are no analytics, no tracking scripts, and no remote servers involved. Uninstalling the extension or clearing its storage permanently deletes this data.
How the extension accesses IKEA websites
The extension reads publicly visible product information directly from the IKEA pages you are already viewing, and intercepts clicks on IKEA's own native favorite button to offer a login-free "add to list" flow. This happens entirely within your browser. The extension only runs on official IKEA domains — it does not run on, read from, or send data to any other website.
Email feature
The "Email the list" button opens your device's default email application with the list content pre-filled, using a standard mailto link. The extension does not send email itself and has no access to your email account or messages.
PDF export
The "Export PDF" feature opens a print-ready page in a new browser tab, which you can save as a PDF using your browser's own print dialog. This happens entirely on your device; nothing is uploaded anywhere.
Children's privacy
The extension is a general-purpose shopping tool and is not directed at children. It does not knowingly collect information from anyone, regardless of age, since it does not collect information at all.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the "Last updated" date above will be revised. Since the extension does not collect any contact information from users, individual notice of changes isn't possible — please check this page periodically if you have concerns.
